End of the year

Jun 22, 2018
The school year has ended, and LHS spring sports have come to an end. The Softball, tennis, and baseball seasons have come to an end. The Littleton High School Softball team made it to the first round of the NHIAA playoffs, but sadly lost to Wilton in their first and only game of the tournament. Hopefully they are able to build off from this season and make a good run into the tournament next year.

The Littleton High School Baseball team on the other hand ended up winning their first round game against Hopkinton. It was a tight game, back and forth through the whole game. The game went into extra innings and in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied 9-9, Nick Sanborn had a walk off hit to win the game and advance the Crusaders into the final four.

In the next round Littleton would face off against Wilton. Littleton started the game off early with a couple of runs, and then after holding off Wilton, they ended up getting the bases loaded with Quinton Ross coming up. First pitch of the at bat and Quinton hit a grand slam to send the Crusaders up 9-2. The Crusaders then coasted for the rest of the game and ended up winning with a final score of 9-4. After this game Newmarket defeated Pittsfield to face Littleton in the Championship game.

The Championship game was set and to be played at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
Littleton traveled all the way to Manchester Saturday, June 9th.Even with the seniors just graduating in the morning, the team was focused on winning this last game. In the first few innings there was a sense of nervousness, until Danny Kubkowski came up with a clutch triple to put the Crusaders up. He would later score again to make the score 3-1. After this the Crusaders cruised through the game with Newmarket only ending up with 3 hits. The Littleton Crusaders were once again Division 4 Baseball State Champions. The Crusaders had won the state championship back in 2016 as well. Winning this year was a great way for the seniors to end their career as a Littleton Crusader.

End of Spring Sports

May 29, 2018
As all the Spring Sports regular seasons are rapidly ending, Littleton High School sports has some playoff hopes for each of it’s teams. To start off Girls Softball has had some great games towards the end of their season. Except for the hiccup game they had against White Mountains Regional, they have had some close losses and some wins. The Lady Crusaders end their season on a four-game win streak as they beat Profile twice in a row and then defeated Gorham and Lisbon. Littleton Softball ended up finishing in thirteenth with a record of 7-9. They have a playoff game Wednesday May 30, against Wilton Lyndeborough.

Littleton Boys Baseball had a great end of the season as well, they ended up winning every game on their schedule except for the 2 games against White Mountains Regional. With a final record of 14-2 the boys are tied for second with Wilton-Lyndeborough. The NHIAA will determine who had the tougher schedule of the two and give one of the teams second or third. Littleton is most likely to get the second seed and will receive a first round bye, they will play Saturday, June 2 against the winner of Hopkinton and Colebrook.

The Littleton Boys and Girls Tennis seasons are currently finished. Both teams defeated their first-round opponent but then lost the subsequent round. For the Littleton girls they had a tough first round against Moultonborough, Littleton was the 4 seed and Moultonborough was the 5 seed. The game was tight as Littleton was down 4-1. The Lady Crusaders could not afford to lose another set and let Moultonborough get to 5 or else they would win, there was no room for error. Littleton won the rest of their sets and moved onto the second round against Bow High School. The Lady Crusaders lost to Bow in a tough match. This ended Littleton’s season and moved Bow onto the championship round. The Littleton Boys faced off against Profile in their first-round matchup. The Littleton Boys traveled to Profile and beat them, getting revenge on them for both of their regular season losses against Profile. It was a close match Littleton took it to them winning 5-3. The Littleton boys had made it to the semi-finals just like the girls, they needed to beat Gilford to advance to the championship. Littleton was outmatched against Gilford as they lost 7-2 finishing their season.
