Boys Playoffs

Mar 13, 2018
The Littleton Crusader Boys wrapped up their season with a semifinal loss Monday, March 5th. The Boys came in with a lot of young talent. The team consists of a lot of players who will return next year. This was looking to be a tough year to begin with but, the Littleton boys made the very best of it.

Littleton had a tough playoff run ahead of them in the beginning. In the first round they were home in Littleton against Lisbon Tuesday February 27th for the third time this season. Lisbon is not a bad team by any means and this was going to be a good game to watch. Josh Woods played great with 26 points but, Danny Kubkowski outshined him with an even better game scoring 43 points in an 86-60-point Crusader win. The second game was another difficult game. The Littleton Boys were set to play Groveton for the third time this season as well. Friday March 2nd the Crusaders hosted Groveton in a rematch of last years Championship game. The Littleton Boys had the pressure on them, Groveton came to play and laid it all on the line. Again, Danny Kubkowski dropped 30+ points for the second game in a row, he finished with 33 points. Parker Briggs also played well as he scored 21 points aiding Littleton in the win. Final Score Littleton 71 Groveton 64.

For the semi final game Littleton traveled to play at Plymouth State against Pittsfield Monday, March 5. This was a tough matchup for Littleton as Pittsfield was one of the heavy favorites going into the tournament. Cam Darrah had a phenomenal game scoring 22 points; his shooting was on point and he was unstoppable with his moves into the paint. Littleton had a very hard time scoring in this game as most teams do in these high pressure semi final games. The season was over for the boys as they lost 62-42. Pittsfield went on and eventually won the championship so at the very least the Crusaders lost to the best team. It was an amazing season anyway as Littleton hopes to be back next year with a lot of the same players.

With the division 4 playoffs right around the corner, the Littleton boys and girls were set to play against Profile again on February 6. The Girls are so close to finishing their season undefeated, they are atop the standings and the only undefeated team left in division 4. They just need to pull it together and win these last few games. The Lady Crusaders played very well against Profile with their scoring abilities looking as strong as their defensive abilities. They defeated Profile handily with a final score of 58-24. The Littleton girls have really been relying on their defense to win these games that are close but this game was a very well-played game offensively.

The Boys have had sickness going through their team as they were missing a few players for the Profile game. Most notably they were missing Parker Briggs who is believed to be coming back soon enough. They appeared to have some lack luster scoring because of this as they only scored 50 points total in a 50-34 point win over Profile. There was not a lot of intensity on the Littleton side of the ball and this late in the year that is something you don’t really want to see. They still beat Profile without some of their players, displaying how deep this Littleton team is. Hopefully the Littleton Boys can get something going for them, as the Playoffs are coming up soon and they are currently up in the top of the division.

After almost a week off with no games, the Littleton Crusaders traveled to Colebrook to play against Colebrook Monday February 12. The Littleton girls had been looking forward to this matchup as Colebrook is a good team and could possibly see the Crusaders in the playoffs. Colebrook was also aiming to be the first team to win against the Crusaders all season. With the winning streak on the line the Crusaders came ready to play. The game started with both teams getting wide open looks for easy jump shots. Lainey Hadlock was scoring with ease and the Crusaders were rolling. Colebrook kept the game close as Sage Smith scored 20 of the teams 54 points, but the Crusaders consistency and the depth of their bench won them the game. Littleton won with a score of 65 to 54.

The Littleton Boys were looking to get a win on the road against Colebrook as well. Colebrook has been struggling this season, and the Littleton Boys are coming back to full strength for the end of the season. Littleton handled the game from the start to the finish and got some of their bench players some playing time towards the end of the game. The Crusaders looked good and were playing with a lot of confidence. Hopefully they can replicate this going into the playoffs. The final score of the game was Littleton 69 Colebrook 42.
